Is it possible to walk in shorts in Tadzhikistan?
Responds information department of "Subtlety of Tourism"
In Islamic countries, traditionally, strict requirements are imposed on clothes in which a person appears on the street. This is especially true of women: in Tajikistan, it is not recommended to wear tight-fitting shorts and miniskirts - they are forbidden to deny their legs and arms under the laws of Islam.
Since recently, this restriction has taken not only religious but also secular character: the government forbids girls on the territory of educational institutions to appear in mini-skirts, shorts and jeans, as well as traditional Islamic headscarf hijab.
As for men - a strict ban on wearing shorts to them is not presented. However, they are also recommended to dress modestly, as established by the main religion.
