Vanua Levu ("big land") is the second largest island in Fiji. It is here that you can find almost unexplored places of wild nature and untouched coral reefs. Moreover, here you can find interesting archaeological sites in Nabowuvalu near Savusavu or in Vasavula near Labasa.

Here, as well as on the island of Taveuni and the nearby islands, for the most part divers go. Taveuni, moreover, is popular among fans of ecotourism: there are dense jungles, waterfalls and rare species of birds. Hiking is well developed due to the picturesque volcanic landscape and rugged coastline.

Peninsula Tunuloa

Peninsula Tunuloa lies in the southeastern part of Vanua Levu and connected with the rest of the island by a narrow isthmus. Almost all of it, as well as the nearby islands, are part of the province of Kakudrovou, whose capital is Savusavu.

Buka Bay, which is on the east of the peninsula, is connected by ferries with the nearby island of Taveuni, which enjoys constant popularity among divers due to its long coral reef 31 km. South of the Bay of Buka is the village of Dakuniba, known for stones with petroglyphs.

Labasa

The largest city on Vanua Levu, almost completely surrounded by sugarcane plantations. At the time of its collection (from June to January), it becomes very noisy and fun here, at all other times it is a quiet and peaceful place, popular among wealthy tourists. Vanua Levu photo (10) ±$ br >
