In Abkhazia, amazing nature. Every year, many tourists come here to take a dip in the sea and admire the majestic mountains, full-flowing rivers and waterfalls, picturesque mountain lakes. And the most beautiful of them is rightfully recognized as the glacial lake Ritsa, located at an altitude of 950 meters above sea level.

Separate the Great Ritsu with an area of ​​1.27 square kilometers, and Malaya Ritsu, occupying only 0.2 square kilometers. It is Big Ritsa (usually Ritsa) with its amazingly transparent blue-green water that is considered the main natural landmark of Abkhazia. The lakes belong to the Ritsin Reserve, located about 120 km from Sukhum.

According to the legend about the origin of the lake, Ritsa was called a beautiful girl who lived in the mountains with her three brothers. The robber was kidnapped by robbers, in which one of his brothers threw his sword. The sword fell into the river and blocked it, turning the valley into a lake in which Ritsa remained. The girl's brothers petrified and now eternally guard the peace of their sisters.
