The famous spa resort and simply cozy cozy town of Karlovy Vary is famous for its thermal springs to the whole world. But, surprisingly for a city of such modest proportions, there is one more thing in Karlovy Vary that made it famous all over the world. This is the famous Czech liqueur "Beherwok" with an inexpressible in word taste and aroma, which, once tried, you will not forget. It is quite logical that here, in the homeland of the liquor, a whole museum is dedicated to him.

The Jan Becher Museum, which was opened in Karlovy Vary in 1992, is located in the building of an old pharmacy. In 1809 in the pharmacy of Jan Becher appeared tincture on herbs, designed to improve digestion. Then the pharmacist Yang did not even imagine how good it would be to "improve digestion" this wonderful drink that soon became popular around the world and was called "Becherovka."

No one except a limited circle of people knows the exact recipe for the famous liquor.

It is known for certain that local water is used during cooking. Once a week, the collection of special herbs is placed in special pouches, which are then immersed in vessels with alcohol, where they stay for a while. It is also known that some ingredients are imported from abroad, but most of them grow in the vicinity of Karlovy Vary.

No one except a limited circle of people knows the exact recipe for the famous liquor.

Of course, most of the exposition of the Karlovy Vary Museum is dedicated to the world-famous liquor .At the entrance to the museum the visitor immediately feels a pleasant characteristic smell of herbs and spices, which have been consistently used for several centuries in the preparation of "Becherovka" .During the tour, you can find out how Jan Becher invented the drink, about the ways of spilling, will show the cellars storing the secrets of the production of liquor .In addition, here you can see a vast collection of labels and bottles belonging to different historical epochs .What is not here - beakers, gift packs, small and huge bottles, glasses, advertising posters and even dishes from porcelain .In the museum there is even a collection of counterfeit "Becherovka" .Well, in the finale, a very pleasant event awaits, namely, the tasting of Jan Becher's ingenious invention .Of course, next to the museum there is also a store where you can buy liquor as a souvenir and other souvenirs .Visiting the museum is possible both with the group and individually .

The museum is located near the station, at the end of a small street, quite undistinguished outside. For the landmark - the information center of Karlovy Vary is located nearby. We visited the information center while waiting for the start time of the excursion, where you can take the city plan in Russian. On a tour, a man is gathered in ten. Conducted through the coveted cellars, then in the tasting room they show the film about the creator of this drink and, of course, offer it to be tasted.

Walking in the center of Karlovy Vary, found this museum by chance - we were attracted by a sign in the form of a huge bottle of Becherovka, and we thought it was a shop.
The museum is small, but has its own, very "home" atmosphere. First, accompanied by a guide, we watched the exhibits associated with the history of this drink. In the glass cases - samples of bottles and labels, along which you can trace the evolution of their design since 1931. On the walls hang old photographs, diplomas, awards.
