Kelantan (Kelantan Darul Naim, "Kelantan abode of goodness") is one of the northern states of Western Malaysia, bordered to the north by Thailand, and to the south by the state of Terengganu. This state is famous for its magnificent beaches, rich cultural heritage and ancient crafts, which are still perfectly mastered by locals. Woodcarving, silver jewelery, wicker baskets and Sengket fabrics of Kelantan state are considered almost the best on the whole peninsula.

How to get
From Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu, Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia fly daily.
A bus express service with the capital of the state of Kota-Baru has Kuala Lumpur (474 km), Kuantan, Kuala Terengganu and Johor Bahru. Once a day, stations from Kuala Lipis, Jerantut and Kuala Lumpur pass through Wakaf Bharu and Sungai Golok stations.

Beaches of Kelantan
The beach of Pantai Chahaya Bulan ("the shore of the Moonlight") is located 10 km from Kota-Baru. There are no problems with accommodation: on the beach there are primitive motels, and a cottage complex on the beach, and hotels with swimming pools, restaurants and a golf course. Pantai Seri Tudzhuh or "the shore of the seven lagoons" is another popular beach 7 km north of Kota-Baru, on the border with Thailand. It is here that the colorful international kite festival is held.
The beach of Pantai Bisikan Bayu ("shore of Whispering Wind") is located 58 km from Kota-Baru, in the town of Dalam Rhu. This beach is well suited for diving, snorkeling and fishing. Pantai Iram ("melodious shore") is located in the vicinity of the town of Bachok, 25 km south of Kota-Baru. The beach claims the title of the most beautiful in the country.
Other good beaches: Pantai Sabak and Tumpat Beach.
Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Kelantan
Kelantan is a paradise for eco-tourism enthusiasts: the state has a lot of river and forest routes, a nature reserve and picturesque waterfalls, most of which are concentrated in the Pasir Puteh district, about 35 km from Kota-Baru. Other famous places with waterfalls are Jeram Pasu, Lata Rek and Lata Renyok. The most spectacular, in Lata Beringin, a 120-meter waterfall.
The Wat Photihanhan temple with the figure of the Reclining Buddha (one of the largest in all Southeast Asia) is in Kampung Jambu, 12 km north of Kota-Baru. Kuala Koh, the northern gate Taman Negara - one of the entrances to the Taman Negara reserve is located in the town of Kuala-ko.
