The Armenian language (Հայոց լեզու) refers to an Indo-European family, usually allocated to a separate group, is considered one of the oldest written, since its alphabet was created by Mesrop Mashtots back in 405-406. n. e.
The total number of speakers around the world is about 6, 4 million people, mostly Armenians, as well as the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (Azerbaijan), and, of course, emigrants around the world. Being a branch of the Indo-European language, the Armenian came into contact with various Indo-European and non-Indo-European languages - both living and dead now, taking from them and bringing to our days much of what the direct written testimonies could not save.
In 2005, the 1600th anniversary of Armenian writing was widely celebrated.
