The southernmost city of Egypt rested comfortably on the amazingly picturesque stretch of the Nile, decorated itself with palm islands and a fleet of charming white feluccas (small ships with triangular sails). Together with the Nubians who live separately, who have a separate language and special customs, this city is much more African than the whole of northern Egypt. And Aswan is the smallest of all popular cities on the Nile, where cruise ships stop.

On the Nile
The best thing you can think of in Aswan is to go for a walk on a real felucca. The most popular route is to Kom Ombo (one night and two days, about 50 pounds per person). You can swim to Edfu (two nights and three days, from 70 pounds). A total of about 6 people can fit on a felucca, food is not included in the price.
You can go to a more comfortable cruise for three days on a luxury liner on the Nile to Esna near Luxor. Such a train will cost about 50 pounds per night "full board", you can buy a tour in any travel agency or hotel Aswan.

Aswan is one of the hottest and dryest cities in the world. In winter, the temperature is usually kept around +20 ... + 25 ° C, at night around +10 ° C. In summer, it can easily rise to +40 ° C during the day and hang at +25 ° C at night.
Transport
You can travel around Aswan at calèche (£ 10 per hour). For example, the cost of a three-hour trip to the Philae temple, the dam and the Unfinished Obelisk will cost about 30 pounds, and a simple taxi will cost from 80 to 100. A taxi within the city center costs 5 pounds. In general, Aswan is a small and compact town where you can easily move on your own.
To reach the attractions of the West Bank of the Nile, you have to pay the owner of the felucca or motor boat, the cost is better negotiated in advance (for tourists it is often bully).
Shopping
The market of Aswan Sharia as-Souq is much more exotic than in the north of the country, and the attitude towards visitors here is not so aggressive: no one will put pressure on the tourist to buy another papyrus or a magnet. Special attention should be paid to the products of the Nubians, who are very well made and much more qualitative than what is generally offered in the country to get together (or those who want to see it). However, all other goods will cost more than Cairo's markets.
Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Aswan
Directly in the city you can see the island of Elephantine, where are the oldest fragments of the temple of Khnum, which date from the time of the Middle Kingdom. At the southern tip of the island - the ruins of a later temple erected by Nectaneb II.
Also in the city there is the charming Botanical Garden, the villa and mausoleum of Aga Khan, the ruins of the monastery of St. Simeon and the Nubian Museum, which is located somewhat on the outskirts. The museum covers an area of 50,000 m², and includes not only exhibition halls, but also a library, training centers, and a green park around.
But the main thing for the sake of which tourists make a stop in Aswan are temples and complexes in the vicinity. Firstly, these are the temples of the island of Philae, which is located in the middle of the Nile and, according to legend, Osiris was buried there. In antiquity, Fillet was considered an "inaccessible" island: only priests could live on its sacred ground. Today, tourists live here, clicking to the right and left with their fashionable DSLRs, tossing candy wrappers and picking their tongues at those or other beauties meticulously. And all because Fillet is protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.
Secondly, everyone wants to see the famous Aswan dams, and the hydroelectric complex itself - the largest hydrotechnical system of structures in Egypt.
