Where can I see the unique sculptures of Egypt?
A lot of figures carved from stone are in Luxor. There tourists will be impressed by the statues of Ramses II, Nefertari, the goddess Sekhmet, the colossi of Memnon and other sculptures (including the whole alley of small sphinxes, the hall of caryatids).
In the city of Edfu, between Luxor and Aswan, you can admire the numerous statues of the god Horus.
Stunning statues are carved into the rock at the entrance to the Abu Simbel temple complex (a few hours' drive from Aswan), they even outshine other local figures and bas-reliefs. In the same area, you can see sculptures of the temple complexes from Calabashi, Wadi al-Cebu, Beit el-Wali and other places. They were brought to these parts during the construction of the dam, when they flooded the area where they had stood before.
Subtle work bas-reliefs and columns crowned with stone heads can be found in Kom Ombo, Dendera, Abydos, statues, large and small - in Sakkara, Memphis, and even in Alexandria (although there are more ruins).
