How to get
Buses from Athens depart every hour from 6.00 to 23.00 from the station Leoforia Peloponnisou (terminal A). Travel time is about 2, 5 hours (possibly more, in case of traffic jams). The ticket price is € 11, 8 (for May 2011). The bus station is located on the street. Syndrome, 8. From here there are buses to Epidavros, Mycenae, Tiryns and Argos. For trips around the surrounding area and other cities of the peninsula, you can rent a car at one of the rental locations.
By train from Athens airport, you can get to Corinth and take the bus to Nafplion.

Beaches of Nafplion
Nafplion itself can hardly be called a beach resort, nevertheless, there are opportunities for recreation on the beach in the city. At 300 meters from Syntagma Square, opposite the Akronafplia Fortress is a small pebbled beach, Arvantiya.
Approximately two kilometers east of the center, near the fortress of Palamidi, lies the sandy beach of Karafon. Fans of hiking can reach it on foot along the coast, there is also a boat from the port and buses from the city. Cafes and taverns and water activities are present.
Directly the resort area is 11 km south-east of the city in the village of Tolo.

As the main eastern port of the Peloponnese, Napplion must have had adequate defense. The first of the bastions was the fortress of Akronafplia, built on the site of the ancient acropolis. Before the arrival of the Venetians, the city was actually located within the fortress. From the Policos Square, Nosokomio can be reached by elevator, and the staircase leads to the old gates of the fortress from Agios Spiridonos Square.
Fort Burtzi during the Venetian rule was erected on top of a cliff at the entrance to the city port. Today you can make a boat trip to the castle by boat from the port and evaluate the view of the city from the sea.
Palamidi is the most monumental and impressive city fortress standing on the top of a 216-meter hill.
Built by Venetians in the early 18th century and conceived as a system of separate bastions connected by walls, the fortress is rightfully considered a masterpiece of military architecture..You can get inside by the road leading to the eastern gate or the stairs on the west side, east of the bust of Grimani .Local residents claim that it consists of 999 steps, and although in fact there are less steps ("only" 850), climbing the stairs requires a certain amount of physical training .Entrance fee: € 4 (for May 2011), access is open from 8 .00 to 19 .00 in the summer and from 8 .00 to 15 .00 in the winter .

Museums of Nafplion
Located in one of the most beautiful buildings of the city in Syntagma Square, the Archaeological Museum stores an extensive collection of exhibits dating back to the Neolithic period. A permanent exhibition of the branch of the National Gallery (Alexander Sutsosa Museum) is dedicated to the War of Independence, and temporary exhibitions are also held. Museum address: st. Sidiras Merarhias, 23. Opening hours: Monday and Wednesday from 10.00 to 15.00, Wednesday and Friday from 10.00 to 15.00 and from 17.00 to 20.00, Saturday from 10.00 to 14.00. Sunday and Tuesday are days off.
In the Folklore Museum of the Peloponnese (Vasileos Alexandros, 1) a remarkable collection of Greek national costumes and other household items is presented. Recently, a part of the museum's exposition reflects not only the rural but also the urban life of Greece, including Nafplion in the 19th century. There is a shop at the museum. Opening hours: from 9.00 to 15.00, Tuesday is a day off.
