Akureyri is the northern capital of Iceland and the second largest city (15 thousand inhabitants). How to get to Akureyri
The city can be reached by car or bus on the highway 1-Ring Road, which encircles almost the whole country. In addition, the city has a small airport that accepts flights from Reykjavik (Air Iceland, several times a day, from 5000 ISK, on the road 45 minutes), Copenhagen and twice a week from London (Iceland Express, en route 3 hours, from 200 GBP).
Also Air Iceland flies from Akureyri to Grimsey (from 4800 ISK, on the road 25 minutes), Vopnafjordur (from 6000 ISK, on the road 45 minutes) and Torshavn (from 6000 ISK, on the way 45 minutes). The airport is 2 km south of the city center.
Buses from the capital go to Akureyri from May to September twice a day (departure at 8:30 and 17:00, from 6600 ISK, on the way 5, 5 hours), in the rest of the year - once a day. Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Akureyri
