Semi-annual visa is issued in the visa center of India. There is no "visa on arrival" format in this country. During the season (October to March), some travel companies issue a temporary permit to stay in Goa - the passport remains at Goa airport and is not allowed to leave the state territory. These rules apply to everyone, including tourists of retirement age.

The format of the new visa regime with India currently under discussion concerns the "E-visa", that is, the e-visa, the application for which the tourist fills out on a special site, pays the card and, having received confirmation, goes with a printout to the airport.

Such a visa was planned for introduction in October this year, but at the moment no infrastructure and employees for receiving Russians with this type of visa are ready at any of India's international airports. Most likely, only from April to May of the next year, Russians will be able to come to India by e-visa.
