The city of Gadar (now Umm Qays) was once a significant cultural center of the country, and today is known as the place where Jesus miraculously healed the demoniac. Here lived poets-classics and philosophers, including Theodore - the founder of the school of rhetoric in Rome.
The city is located on a picturesque hill with a wonderful view of the valley of the Jordan River and the Sea of Galilee. Here, the majestic streets, framed by colonnades, the vaulted terrace and the ruins of two amphitheaters, have been preserved. At one time Gadara was one of the most important cities of Decapolis: she minted her coin and used the Pompeian calendar.

Entertainment, sightseeing and sightseeing
The most interesting in Gadar is the ruins of the Roman city, including the western amphitheater, the street with the colonnade and the mausoleum.
In the New Testament it is said that Jesus Christ visited Gadara, in the vicinity of which he healed two demoniacs. He drove demons out of them, moving them to a herd of pigs, after which they rushed to the Tivarian Lake and drowned. And about 4 km west of the city is a cave, which locals call the "cave of Issa" (Jesus). According to legend, in this cave Jesus Christ stopped when he went to Gadara to liberate her people from paganism.
