History

The park was created in 1990 on the basis of Kenozersky and Lekshmozersky nature reserves with the purpose of preserving cultural and historical monuments and unique everorusskoy nature. The area of ​​the park is 1210 square meters. km. There are 263 species of birds, 50 species of mammals, 5 species of amphibians and 4 species of reptiles. In the reservoirs of the park there are 2 species of lamprey and 27 species of fish. The park's flora consists of 534 species, the orchids deserve special attention, most of them are included in the Red Book.

Natural monuments

Picturesque lake system is the main attraction of the park. The largest and most bizarre in form is Lake Kenozero, surrounded by high hills. The island is decorated with several islands with steep slopes. The shore at the lake is high, with sandy beaches.

In the old days, along the Kenozers and the Ken River, there was an important way from Onega Lake to the Northern Dvina, so on the shores of the lake today there are numerous Neolithic sites, wooden structures and other monuments of history and culture .

Another picturesque lake - Lekshmozero - is located in the southern part of the park. In its unusually clear water, there are many fish. And climbing high on Hizhgoru, not far from Lekshmozero, you can admire the surroundings: the forest and the lakes.
