Maeburg used to be an important economic center of the country. Founded in 1804, the city witnessed the only naval victory of the Napoleonic army over the British. Here was also the famous slave market. Today this small town with a rich past pleases tourists with its atmosphere and sights. On the territory of Maeburg there are no beaches, however it is very convenient to get to the Bay of Blue Bay and Pointe d'Esny, from where the boats to the islands of Aigrettes follow.
