Shopping and shopping
Salalah is famous for its incense - an odorous tart substance, obtained from the resin of a special kind of trees. Due to its high quality, Salal incense is considered to be one of the most valuable in the world. Also from here you can take away the pure myrrh and various spirits on its basis. For this and other souvenirs should go to the booming Huff market.
Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Salalah
The city and its surroundings boast remarkable sights of an amazing degree of antiquity. In the mountains of Kara is the grave of the prophet Job, in the valley of Rory - the ruins of the palace of the Queen of Sheba, and around grow trees like "boswellia sacra", from which they receive incense. In Salal itself, one should pay attention to the majestic mosque of Sultan Qaboos (the name of the real ruler of the country is a huge number of buildings, squares and streets).
From Salalah you can get on an excursion to the source of Ain Razat, to the traditional village of Taka (as usual, with its own ancient fort) and to Samkhan mountains. And 175 km north of Salalah are the ruins of the ancient city of Ubar, nicknamed Lawrence of Arabia "Atlantis of the Sands." Ubar, once a flourishing center for incense trading, was completely absorbed by the upcoming sands of the Rub-al-Khali desert.
