Constanta, the capital of the coast is the third largest city in Romania and the largest port on the Black Sea. Once upon a time there was the ancient Greek city of Toma, whose founder - according to some sources - was the king of Colchis. It was 500 years before our era. Later, the city was captured by the Roman Empire, later - the Ottoman, and from 1878 became one of the cities of Romania.

Nowadays, Constanta is a very modern, diverse city with a rich history, which, along with a successful location, is a guarantee of the undying interest to it from tourists.

How to get

From Bucharest, you can get here by train, plane or bus. Mikhail Kogalniceanu International Airport is 28 km north of Constanta, and with Mangalia the city is connected by rail and modern highway.

Beaches

The presence of the sea and mineral springs with biologically active water caused that in the last century the king of Romania decided to create a resort zone on a 50-kilometer strip located to the south and north of the city and build many sanatoriums and boarding houses where one could not only relax, but also improve your health. This project is not yet completed, although several decades have been functioning at the sanatorium coast.

Religious architecture

Being a city of different religions, Constanta is rich in cult buildings. The Orthodox Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul was built in 1885. The main treasure of the Cathedral - magnificent unique frescoes, which are surprisingly well preserved since the erection of the cathedral.

The Karol Mosque, built in 1900 is an exact replica of the Anatolian mosque.
