On an open Schengen visa you can stay on the territory of Romania before the expiration of the visa.

From 1 February 2014, persons who are not citizens of the Member States of the European Union, who have two or more Schengen visas, or a residence permit in the EU, have the opportunity to enter Romania without a national visa. That is, you do not need to open a national visa of the country.

In this case, in the presence of the above documents in Romania, you can stay up to 90 days for every 180 days of the year. However, staying in Romania does not reduce the number of Schengen days used.
