Modern history of Novi Sad
After the Second World War, Novi Sad became part of a new socialist Yugoslavia. In the period before the breakup of Yugoslavia, the city experienced rapid industrialization and population growth. In 1999, during the war in Kosovo, NATO bombing left the city without all its three bridges across the Danube, water, communications and electricity. Since 2006, Novi Sad is a part of independent Serbia. Today in Novi Sad the cultural treasures of the region are concentrated: museums, art galleries, monuments of architecture.
