Answered by Information department of the "Thinness of Tourism"
Slovenia declared its independence in 1991, on 25 June. Then Ljubljana became the capital of the new sovereign state. This city, the largest in the country, historically was its center. Ljubljana was the capital and at the beginning of the 20th century, when Slovenia was a part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and after 1945, when it became one of the republics of socialist Yugoslavia. Prior to this, from XIII-XIV to XX century, the city was the official center of the Krajina region, which at that time occupied most of the country.
