What is the weather like in Abkhazia in winter?

It will be most correct to call the weather in Abkhazia poorly predictable in winter. Precisely, we can only say that the temperature drops below zero very rarely both during the day and at night. Exception is made only by high-mountainous areas. In the rest of the country, the whole winter is quite mild and very wet. The weather in December is considered to be the most stable: during the day the temperature keeps about + 12-15 degrees and above, at night it drops to + 6-7. Wet, windy, precipitation happens.

In January it is considerably colder, about + 2-5 at night and + 8-10 in the afternoon. Rainfall is gaining momentum, especially in the second half of the month. Rains and wet heavy snow can go very long. At the same time, there are sunny days with quite a comfortable temperature - to give a more or less accurate forecast for at least a week is very difficult.

In early February, the air chills to + 5-7 in the afternoon and + 3-4 at night, and by the end of the month it starts to warm up gradually. The average daily temperature of the last decade of February is + 9-10. The amount of precipitation decreases slightly, the number of clear days increases, but the humidity remains high.
