Murinsel Island
In Graz on the Mura River there is an island Murinsel of an artificial origin, designed by the American artist Vito Akkonci on the occasion of Graz's victory in 2003 in the category "European Capital of Culture". In fact, the island is a floating platform, built in the form of a giant sea shell 50 m long and 20 m wide. Pedestrian bridges connect the "shell" with both banks of the river Mura, and the center of the platform is an amphitheater, accommodating about 350 visitors.
