Phnom Penh is the capital and the largest city of Cambodia. Once it was one of the most beautiful cities in French colonial Asia, but as a result of numerous wars, much was destroyed, and after restoration, Phnom Penh turned into a major megalopolis with modern buildings.

Shopping and shopping
When buying souvenirs, you need to remember that a third of all electronic devices (including DVD and CD, glasses, watches) purchased here will be denied after a few days, if at all, earned. What can not be said about handicrafts, shoes and silk - they are usually of good quality.
The central market of the capital ("dog tkhmay", "new market") is located near the seafront of Sisovat. Here you can buy almost everything that is produced and grown in Cambodia, as well as Southeast Asia. Remarkably the building itself is a covered market built in the Art Deco style of the 1930s.
The European version - the shopping center Sorya - is nearby. There is air conditioning, there are many fast food outlets and a supermarket with a good choice. An alternative to him is the Sovanna center. City Mall, opened in September 2009, the largest modern shopping center in Phnom Penh. It is located on the Monireth Boulevard near the Olympic Stadium.
"The Russian market" ("psa toul tom pong") received its name in the 80s, when the employees of the Soviet embassy were being bought here. In addition to the brands Levi's, CK, Ralph Lauren, whose clothes are sewn in local factories, you can buy counterfeit Swiss watches or pirated software at low prices.
In Phnom Penh, there are also many antique sellers selling goods that can not theoretically be exported from Cambodia. However, most of this antiques are fakes. You can look at this good in the market of Hidden Treasures, # 9 Street 148.
