What should be the validity of a foreign passport for a trip to Georgia?
Responds Maria Ilyukhina, World of Wanderings
For citizens of the Russian Federation, the validity of a passport when visiting Georgia should be 3 months from the day of the end of the trip.
Answer Information department of "Subtlety of Tourism"
Officially (according to the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia), a foreign passport at the time of entry into Georgia from a citizen of the Russian Federation must be valid for 180 days. However, these norms were established even during the period when visas were required for entry to Georgia, or the visa-free period was only established (and amounted to 90 days in every 180 days).
Despite the fact that this is the only information concerning the validity of the passport for a trip to Georgia, presented in official sources, there is another version. On the basis of oral communication by phone in the consular section and the experience of those travelers who traveled freely to the country with a passport with a shorter period of validity, it turns out that there are no restrictions on the validity of the passport for entry to Georgia, except for the self-evident norm that at the moment departure passport must be still valid.
