What are the customs of India worth knowing before visiting the country?
Responds information department of "Subtlety of Tourism"
Before visiting India, any traveler and tourist should remember some rules of decency, which the customs of India require to be observed. In India, for example, handshakes are not accepted. Instead, the Indians use the traditional Namaste mudra.
The soles of the shoes should not be turned to either side, as this can be regarded as a sign of disrespect. It is not necessary to use the index finger, it is better to use the gestures of the outstretched arm or chin. Indecent for local residents is a public display of feelings, such as hugs and kisses, and in public, a man and a woman should not hold hands.
Before entering the temples, mosques and other religious institutions, you should always take off shoes.
