What is the level of medicine in Laos?
Responds information department of "Subtlety of Tourism"
Going to Laos, it should be noted that the level of medical care in the country is quite low .At the same time, at least one polyclinic or hospital is in every district, but there are no large hospitals in Laos at all .Lao people receive medical care free of charge, except for dental care - it is mainly represented by private clinics .In general, private practice in the country is quite common, but the quality of services and staff qualification is lower than in neighboring countries .The Lao people themselves lean towards traditional medicine and use the services of hospitals rarely .
Foreigners visiting Laos are advised to make out an international medical insurance that provides for the evacuation by air, and apply to clinics at foreign embassies. As for pharmacies, then only pharmacies work at the public medical facilities around the clock, and the choice of medicines is rather limited.
Important: when planning a trip to Laos, it is strongly recommended to get a vaccine against malaria.
