How to get to Johor Bahru

Johor Bahru lies 368 km (or five hours) from Kuala Lumpur. The toll highway "North-South" (North-South Expressway) reduces this distance to 220 km and three hours drive.

Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia make flights to the airport. Sultan Ismail Airport, 32 km from the city center) from Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan and Kuching. The mosque of Sultan Abu Bakar is on the top of a hill, from there an amazing view of the Johor Strait opens. Nearby is the Grand Palace (Istan Besar, Museum of Sultan Abu Bakar). Datran Bandarayya Square ("city square") is interesting for its fountain, minaret and clock tower. This is a favorite place for evening walks of citizens. The Johor Free Trade Zone is the largest duty-free trade center in Malaysia. It includes a hotel, a center for mass events, a floating restaurant with a nightclub and a five-story shopping podium. From here ferries leave for Singapore and Indonesia, customs and border control posts are immediately located.
