Entertainment, excursions and attractions in Maastricht
One of the main attractions of the city is the remains of the defensive line of Van du Moulin (walls, bastions, underground galleries), as well as a labyrinth of 20 thousand caves in Sint-Petersberg. The total length of the tunnels here exceeds 320 km. During the wars of the Maastrichtians hid in them game, cattle, refugees and works of art.
No less interesting are the medieval burgher houses of the "old city", narrow streets and bridges, the ancient city gates, the Town Hall and the symbol of the city - the Cathedral of Sint Servas (St. Servatius). In the city there are many museums - Episcopal, art and antiquities, the art museum Bonnefanten. And also the beautiful Romanesque basilica of the Netherlands - the church of Onze-Live-Frauve.
It is worth exploring the ancient, thrown across the Meuse, the bridge of St. Servatia and the church of St. John with a 75-meter bell tower. In the Church of the Virgin Mary, despite countless perestroika, a crypt of 1000 years ago survived.
The most cheerful bars are on the street of Platil-Slatil, and boutiques and shops of European brands are in the suburban outlet of Maasmechelen Village.
