Zakopane is on the border with Slovakia, 110 km from Krakow, in the basin of the Tatras. This resort is suitable for skiers of any level - from beginners to "pros", as well as for families. There are good opportunities for learning to skate adults and children.
From the environs of Zakopane, cable cars bring skiers to the mountains. In the south of the city, at the foot of the Tatras, begins the territory of the Tatra National Park with the largest skiing area in Zakopane - Mount Kasprowy Ver. The second largest ski area, Gubałówka, is located north of the city.

Winter in the Tatras is usually snowy, sunny and not very frosty (-3 ..- 10 ° C). Season skating continues from December to April.
Trails of Zakopane
In Zakopane there are 10 main mountain-skiing complexes, the most popular of which are Gubałówka, Nosal, Kasprowy Ver and Polyana Shimoshkova. These are scattered skiing areas in the altitude range of 830-2000 m, there is no single ski-pass to the ski lifts, and there is no ski-bus system. Up to the lower stations of the lifts there are city buses and minibuses.
Kasprowy Ver (1985 m) is the most crowded ski resort in Poland, interesting for advanced skiers and snowboarders. On the top of the mountain, three cable cars were built. The tracks here are mostly very complex, designed for the "pro". The longest trail is 9 km, the height difference is 940 m. There are several areas for beginners with rope towers below the slope.
The Butorovy Top ski center is 2 km west of the center of Zakopane, a little further from the Shimashkova Glade next to the Orbis Kasprovy hotel.
Gubalowka (1120 m) is very popular due to its funicular, the lower station of which is located almost in the center of Zakopane. There are 6 trails here - for skilful as well as for beginners. The longest route is 1600 m, the maximum height difference is 300 m. Also there is a halfpipe for snowboarders.
Polyana Shimoshkova (1140 m) - a ski resort in the central part of the southern slope of the Gubałówka Ridge under the peak Paenkówka. The local slope is over 1950 m long, wide, at the top - steeper, and to the bottom becomes shallow. There are trails for beginners and experienced skiers, the maximum elevation difference is 280 m.
Nosal (1206 m) is located south of the center of Zakopane, on the northern slope of the mountain of the same name. The base of the complex is one of the best Polish slalom slopes, steep, with a FIS certificate. Also there are trails for experienced skiers (maximum elevation difference is 245 m) and 5 light trails for beginners, with a maximum drop of 33 m.
