The border with Latvia: what you need to know about the passage?

Responds information department of "Subtlety of Tourism"
On the border of Russia and Latvia there are 4 automobile checkpoints: Burachki-Terekhovo, Brunishev-Pededze, Ludonka-Vientuli, Ubylyinka-Grebneva. The busiest checkpoint in Burachki, but the rest can not boast of the lack of queues at the border. But in Ludonka and Ubylinka cars with Russian and Belarusian numbers to the gate are skipped bypassing Latvian cars.

The queue usually does not move very fast, although it's as lucky as there are lucky ones who passed all the examinations in half an hour. It is a little easier to cross the border through Belarus, but now (May 2012) one of the checkpoints, "Grigorovschina", is closed for reconstruction.

The Latvian border guards have not yet adopted the experience of Estonian colleagues who introduced electronic reservation of the queue at the border, a similar system is currently being developed.

Remember that without payment of duties on goods in Latvia it is allowed to import a full tank of gasoline plus a can of 10 liters, 40 cigarettes or 10 cigars (20 cigarillos), 1 liter of strong alcohol or 2 loose, 4 liters of wine. Any dairy products, meat, including sausages, stews and even native dumplings, can not be imported, but fish and canned fish are possible.
