The island of Guam, located in the south of the archipelago of the Mariana Islands, is an organized non-aligned US territory. Washed by the Philippine Sea and the Pacific Ocean, it is located 1440 km from the equator near the Mariana Trench - the deepest point of the world ocean.

The main attraction of Guam - the most beautiful Philippine Sea, changing color from turquoise to dark blue. A kilometer-long white sand beach in Tumon Bay is protected from the sea by a coral reef forming a shallow coastal lagoon with warm water. The sand on this beach is called "star" for tiny orange grains with star-shaped points inside the sand.

Nearby stands the picturesque cliff "Two Lovers" (Two Lover's Point), which opens a magnificent view of Tumon. It was to these shores that Magellan, who discovered the island for European civilization, once landed. In the northern part of the island for many kilometers stretched deserted sandy beaches.

Lovers of exotics certainly want to get to know the aborigines of the island - the Chamorro people. A popular tourist destination is the so-called Chamorro Street, where local residents gather on Wednesdays and Fridays on a Wednesday and Friday to demonstrate traditional crafts, sell souvenirs, prepare national dishes and play music.

Further acquaintance with the Chamorro people will be received by travelers during hiking along the island, the routes of which are laid near the monumental ancient Latte stone - the columns on which the ancient Chamorro houses were built. In the mountainous part you can see rock paintings of the ancestors of local residents.

No less interesting are the sights of Guam of later eras: an observation deck with cannons of the time of Spanish colonization (XVII в .), the ruins of Spanish buildings of the same period, as well as monuments of World War II - the historic battle for Guam between the Japanese army and the American fleet in 1944 .It is the fort of Apugan towering over the capital of Guam, .Hagatna and surrounded by a large bright green meadow - the burial place of hundreds of soldiers on both sides .On the seabed near the island are the German cruiser Cormoran and Japanese ships Tokai Maru and Kitsugawa Maru, to which groups of divers often drop .The most complete history of Guam is reflected in the two main collections of the island, located in the Guam Museum in Agan and in the historic park "War on the Pacific Ocean" in Asana .
