What is the currency in the UAE? Where is it more profitable and safer to change money?
Responds Andrei Zorin, Unex company
The national currency of the UAE is a Dirham. 1 dirham includes 100 fils. In circulation are coins worth 10, 25, 50 fils and 1 dirham; bills in 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 dirham.
At present, the exchange rate of the dirham is tightly tied to the USD and is ~ 3, 65 dirhams for 1 USD. Payment for goods and services is made by dirhams, but in almost all stores, dollars are accepted for payment. When calculating with dollars, the change is given, as a rule, in dirhams. Almost all commercial enterprises accept credit cards Master Card and Visa. With American Express cards a bit more complicated, they are not accepted everywhere. To change the currency is best in banks or exchange offices, as the exchange rate is not favorable in hotels.
