In July 2012, the XXX Summer Olympic Games were held in London. Preparation for the competition is almost finished: the mascot is selected, the Olympic facilities are built, the schedule of the competitions is drawn up. Sports fans have to decide on a list of events that they definitely want to visit, stock up on tickets for the competitions, ensure their travel and accommodation.

Where tickets are sold

Alas, most of the tickets have already been booked. But, do not despond! There are several other options:

  • You can apply directly to the National Olympic Committee (the most utopian version);
  • tickets can be purchased from travel companies, holders of a quota that allows tourists to receive during the Olympic Games. Many of them can provide access to not only sports, but also secular events of the Olympics (a costly option, but quite viable - just be careful and beware of fakes);
  • in winter 2011, the rest of the tickets will go on sale on the Internet or by phone on the principle of "who had time - he bought it." Please note: organizers only sell tickets to holders of Visa or Visa Virtual cards.

If the tickets to the Olympics are unlucky, you can get to a series of testing sports facilities, which will take place immediately before. Among them are the international basketball tournament, the World Cup cycling super cross, mountain bike competitions, eventing and many others.

The cost of tickets for the Olympic competition ranged from a ridiculous figure of 20 ₤ to a solid amount in 2000 ₤. In total, 8, 8 million tickets will be sold. During the Olympics, you can watch the marathon and cycling race for free, which will take place directly through the streets of London.

Where will the competition take place

Most events will take place within Greater London, at the Olympic Stadium and adjacent sports grounds. At Wembley Stadium there will be a football tournament, in Regence Park - road racing, and in the famous Hyde Park triathlon.

14,000 employees of government agencies located in Whitehall, for the time of the Olympic Games will be transferred to work at home to unload the transport system of London.

Preliminary matches of football teams will be held in Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham and Coventry. Rowing and canoeing competitions will take place in Dorni, the regatta on the island of Portland, and a mountain bike competition near Hadley Castle.

How to get to the Olympic facilities

London always, and especially during such mass events as the Olympics, it is better to travel by public transport: trains, buses and metro .If you plan to stay in London for at least a week - it's better to buy a weekly ticket for the metro or bus .The British authorities promise to update and improve the existing transport links of sports facilities with key points of the city, in particular, the municipal bicycle transport system is actively developing .And in London there was the first kilometer long cable car that ran through the Thames between the largest European entertainment center "Arena O2" and the largest exhibition complex in Britain Excel (at the Royal Dock Victoria) .

Tickets for trains to Olympic venues that are outside of London can be booked now.
