What you need to know about Abkhazian wine
In Abkhazia, many varieties of grapes are cultivated, however, in different parts of this sunny country grapes of the same variety can have different flavors. Consequently, the wine made in different Abkhazian villages turns out to be special and unique.
In Abkhazia, wines are traditionally divided into so-called "men's" and "women's". It is not difficult to guess that the first is more tart and enveloping taste, the second - sweetness and aroma. Finally, the Abkhazians have known for a long time about the healing properties of an intoxicating grape drink. Local wine makers, keeping family traditions, and today continue to make wines according to their own recipes, which come from the depths of centuries. Perhaps the real good Abkhazian wines can be tried only after visiting the Abkhazians themselves.

What to try
Indeed, the face of all Abkhazian winemaking is the red dessert wine "Bouquet of Abkhazia", made from Isabella grape variety, the first wine in Abkhazia that was produced at the plant. The Abkhaz themselves call this drink black wine for its unusually dark color. Caucasian elders say that having drunk it is the "Bouquet of Abkhazia", they begin to feel like real Abkhazians.
It is worth noting that the Abkhazian "Isabella" favorably differs from the traditional "Isabella" variety. Once imported from America to Abkhazia, the classical variety was crossed with amazing local wild grape varieties, due to which it received a unique taste. The real wine from the Abkhazian "Isabella" has the aroma and aftertaste of strawberry.
Among the wines that can be bought in the store, the most popular red wines are dry wine with the name "Radeda" made from Isabella grapes, a semi-dry "Amra" made from the blend of selected red wine materials, as well as the semisweet "Apsny" made from selected varieties grapes of Cabernet and Saperavi. Also not less known are such red wines as semi-sweet wine "Lyhny" (prince of Abkhazian wines), semi-dry "Escher" and dry "Chegem".
Among the white wines, the most popular are the white semi-sweet wine "Psou", born from the grape varieties Riesling and Aligote, the dry "Dioscuria", made from selected white grape varieties, and the semi-dry "Anakopia" made from the Riesling and Rkatsiteli varieties. ±$ The
By the way, also from the grape squeeze Abkhazians drive a real famous chacha, or vodka "adzh-ahh."
One should not believe that Abkhazian wine is substandard. "Psou", "Lyhny" and "Apsny" wines became famous all over the world thanks to their excellent quality. A fan of semisweet wine from the Abkhazian "Isabella" was Brezhnev himself, which once again confirms the quality of the Abkhazian wines. So, through the most unique wealth of the people and the land - wine - the secrets of Abkhazia open for travelers.
