Is there any Schengen in Bulgaria?
Responds information department of "Subtlety of Tourism"
In 2007 Bulgaria joined the European Union, and Schengen legislation began to operate on the territory of the country. It was not executed in full: in Bulgaria, the passport and visa regime with other European countries was not abolished. But on January 25, 2012 the government of the country allowed entry to tourists with an open Schengen visa. The decision came into force on January 31, 2012.
Since it was unilaterally accepted, it would not work to travel around the European Union with the Bulgarian national visa. But the resorts in Bulgaria can now easily be sent for 3 months, having in the passport a valid Schengen multivisa or a two-time schengen.
If a single Schengen visa is open, then you can visit it in Bulgaria before you enter the country for which a visa has been issued. Rest on the Bulgarian resorts with such a visa is only possible within the dates indicated therein. If you plan to visit Bulgaria after a visit to the country indicated in the visa, then only a transit visit will be possible.
