Beaches Mayu

The island is famous for its white sandy beaches with azure blue sea, however many beaches are far from the main roads and you can get there only on off-road or on foot. The best beaches are not far from Vila do Maio: for example, right at the exit of the town of Bitche Rotcha beach. Further south is Ponta Preta beach. Other beaches: Santana is one of the wildest, Tartarugas and Cais, Galeao and Real (with a wonderful view of the island of Laje Branca), Gonçalo, Pedro Vaz and Boca Ribeira (between Pedro Vaz and Alcatraz). In addition, in Baía de Santana Bay you can watch wild turtles.

NB! Shores in the north of the island, for example, Real-Praia - are dangerous for swimming.

Entertainment, excursions and attractions Mayu

In Vila do Mau (also called Port Inglés), the main square in the British and Portuguese colonial style is interesting, the Church of the Signor Nossa da Luz. In addition, the island is notable for the fort Sao José (18 century), located in the southeast of Mayu. Worth visiting Ponte Velho (Ponte Velho, "old bridge"), a lighthouse, a beautiful lagoon 5 km long, located in the north of Vila do Maio.
