A bit of history
The first traces of human life were discovered near Pula .The first mention of this city is found in the legend of the Argonauts .If you believe this legend, it was the Argonauts who founded this city when they went on a journey for the golden fleece .Confirmation that the case was approximately the same, are the numerous items found during archaeological excavations .Perhaps Pula was founded and not by the Argonauts, but the connection of this city with the ancient Greek culture for scientists is obvious .A few years before the beginning of our era, Pula received the status of the Roman colony, thanks to which its rapid development began, and the buildings constructed at that time still help us to make a mental journey into the depths of the centuries .One of the most interesting - the Arena - a huge amphitheater, one of the largest in the world, perfectly preserved to this day, provoking interest of both historians and curious tourists from all over the world .It is not just a historical monument, it is the site of numerous annual festivals, which Pula is so famous for .
The triumphal arch of Sergius, the temple of Augustus was also presented to the city by the Roman era. After the fall of the Roman Empire, power over the city belonged consistently to the Venetians, Austrians, Italians ... And only in 1947 Pula returned to Croatia. During the long complex period of the city's life, buildings were built here, mostly typical of medieval Roman-Gothic architecture. Many of them survived to the present day, and are a very significant component of the appearance of modern Pula.

Transport Pula
The bus station (with a storage room open from 5:50 to 22:00 with two half-hour breaks) is located in the center of the city (Ulica Mate Balote). The railway station is located 1 km from the city.
It is better to walk by Pula on foot, the traffic here is active, all the sights are within walking distance, so it does not make sense to stand in traffic jams on hot buses.
