Since February 9, 2015, the rule of issuing electronic visas began to operate in Georgia. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia on February 10.

Now, to get a Georgian visa, you need to fill out an application on the e-visa website and pay the fee online. After that, an electronic visa will be sent to the applicant's email address to enter Georgia.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry says that the introduction of the new system will contribute to the growth of the number of tourists coming to the country, as well as exclude a number of existing bureaucratic inconveniences.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Vladimir Gurgenidze in his turn stated that the border of the country will be reliably protected, despite the simplification of the visa regime.
