Seasonal accommodation in hotels in Indonesia - $

The high season in Indonesia falls on the period from May to October, as well as during the New Year and Christmas holidays. At this time accommodation in hotels in Indonesia should be booked in advance.

It should be borne in mind that not only traditional tourism is developed in this country: at the end of the month of Ramadan, as well as at the end of March, when the Indonesian New Year is traditionally celebrated here, the country's hotels are full of tourists from the local population.

Where to stay in Indonesia?

The largest selection of accommodation options is presented in Bali: here you can find traditional bungalows, luxury villas and cottages, as well as hotels of the largest international hotel chains - Holiday Inn, InterContinental and Ramada.

Many modern luxury hotels in Bali open their own SPA-centers, where any procedure is offered at a high price. It is more convenient and cheaper to apply for the same services to self-contained SPA centers located throughout the island.

As for villas and cottages - they can be rented in full or in part. Most of them are located on the coast of the Indian Ocean and form small tourist villages (resorts), where there are several swimming pools, golf courses, tennis courts and children's centers.

In contrast to the coast, in the capital, Jakarta, budget hotels are much larger - they are usually located near busy streets.

The high season in Indonesia falls on the period from May to October, as well as during the New Year and Christmas holidays.

Types of hotels

The capital of the country, Jakarta, the Indian Ocean coast and the island of Bali are the main tourist centers of Indonesia, offering tourists the largest number of accommodation options: from fashionable 5 * hotels and luxury villas for rent to quite inexpensive guesthouses and mini-hotels.

In some hotels (especially expensive) guests are asked to make a small additional deposit before the settlement, which will serve as a guarantee to the owner to cover expenses in case of possible damage caused by the guest. If nothing like this has happened - upon eviction the fee is fully returned.

Outside the main hiking trails, the choice of accommodation options is much poorer: here are mainly hotels like losmen or boarding houses, which can also be referred to as wisma or pondok. Facilities in them, as a rule, not very much: the toilet is often common, and in the bathrooms (also designed for several rooms) is placed a water tank (mandi), from which water is directly dredged for bathing. The cost of such accommodation is usually not more than US $ 15 per night.

Small houses (homestays) or very small losmen are often positioned as aparthotels and rent out rooms at all without maintenance - these are the so-called penginapan.

More traditional 2-3 * hotels, cheap enough, can often be found even in the smallest towns, as well as near major train stations and airport terminals. They can have air conditioners and hot water in the bathroom in each room, but in general they are distinguished by tiny rooms with very small windows or completely without them.

The cost of accommodation in hotels in Indonesia - $

On average, the cost of a hotel room in Indonesia is € 110. In Bali, the average accommodation price in a 3 * hotel is € 52, in a four-bed hotel - € 120 EUR and in a five-star hotel - from € 180 to € 200. In rural areas, hotels are much cheaper - the room can be found at a price of € 20-30. When paying, it should be borne in mind that not all hotels in Indonesia accept bank cards for payment.

According to local law, all hotels must have a price list (daftar harga) at the front desk. The staff are not entitled to request from the guest more than specified in this price list. On the other hand, the availability of discounts in the off-season, on weekends or when staying in a hotel for a long time should be asked separately, since they are not officially announced anywhere.
