Sagarmatha National Park (from Sanskrit - "Forehead of Heaven"), located in the north-east of Kathmandu, received its proud title in July 1976. The park includes the upper basins of the Dudh Kosi and Bhot Kosi rivers. It consists mainly of rough terrain and gorges of the upper Himalayas.

Several rare species of animals live in the park, including a snow leopard and a small panda. The unique culture of the local population - the Sherpas - also draws attention to this locality.

The legendary Mount Everest (8848 m) is located on the territory of the park. And also: the peaks of Lhotse (Lhotse - 8516 m), Cho-Oyu (8201 m), Thamserku (6808 m), Nuttse (Nuptse - 7855 m), Ama-Dablam (6856 m) ) and Pumo Ri (7165 m).

Large settlements - Namche-Bazar, Kumjung, Dole, Mochermo, Tianboche, Pangboche, Monjo.

Tracking

Here there are very low temperatures at high altitudes, hurricane wind (more than 35 m / s), lack of oxygen (oxygen cylinders are required) - the "dead zone" starts at an altitude of 7925 meters.

Ascent in the Sagarmatha National Park is trying to coincide with twoPeriods of relatively stable meteorological conditions: May - June (pre-monsoon period) and September - November (post-monsoon).
