Den Haag - the residence of the government, parliament and the royal court, the third largest and one of the oldest cities in the country. But first of all, The Hague is known for the fact that here is the Peace Palace, in which the International Court of Justice sits.
The Hague is much calmer and quieter than Amsterdam. The streets here are slightly wider, which gives the city a more continental look. In the city there are many typical buildings of the 17th century in the Renaissance style, as well as baroque and classical houses of the 18th century. In the vicinity there are surprisingly cute and eclectic houses of the 19th century - a vivid example of Art Nouveau style.
In the last 10 years, buildings of modern architecture began to appear in The Hague. For example, the Town Hall and the building of the central library from the American architect Richard Meyer, Snoeptrommel (popularly known as the "Candy Box", Candy Box) - a shopping center near the Town Hall.
