Street Red Lanterns, in fact, no street, and a whole area, which the townspeople affectionately called De-Valleties ("stenochki") - once here passed the city fortifications. Prostitutes have chosen this place in the 14th century: it is located in the very center, and from the port not far away. Since then, the churches, taverns and brothels here are side by side - waiting for the sailors tired after a long voyage.

Life in the Amsterdam district of the Red Lanterns still beats today. All the most interesting things happen here in the evenings and at night: illumination, music, heated crowd, prostitutes of all types, sizes and colors, sitting in illuminated shop windows on high bar stools. Here there are real beauties, and vast Rosensky ladies, and modest simpletones of middle age, similar to all neighbors in the house at once.

However, onlookers here are much more than real consumers, and prostitutes play up to everyone, winking and beckoning with the finger not only of men, but also of sighted girls.

Day in the Red Quarter is also interesting, although in its own way. His motley night illumination fades, and you can better consider the area itself. There are a lot of interesting architecture here, after all, one of the oldest districts of the city. Some prostitutes continue to work in the daytime, but behave more mundane: they read "Cosmopolitan", discuss what to buy for dinner, do a manicure. A many windows are completely empty.

Here, by the way, there was even a kind of "Day of Open Doors". Armed with a list of 25 establishments that agreed to arrange free admission for everyone, hundreds of tourists and local residents enjoyed the opportunity to look into the prostitute's bedroom, see a few seconds of a peep show or chat with a stripper. Tourists, mostly male, called the event "a very good idea", while local residents had the opportunity to learn more about all the difficulties of the sex industry profession.

In the Red Light District is also located the Erotic Museum - one of the most famous museums in Amsterdam, representing the erotic art of different cultures and historical periods. There are many sculptures, paintings, statues, photographs, there are even ancient engravings, where the sexual organs or the sexual act itself are sealed, as well as various adaptations (which one even think of is embarrassing). In a word, there is something to see.

Probably, it is difficult to imagine a tourist who would have come to Amsterdam with excursion purposes and did not visit the famous Red Light District. By the way, such a quarter is available not only in Amsterdam, but also in other cities of the world, for example, in Paris, Bangkok, etc. Of course, the main attraction of the district are girls, offering their body at very different rates. They stand in the booths, and if the curtain is closed, it means that the girl is busy. Photographing girls is strictly prohibited, ... Read full review

Despite the fact that the Amsterdam "Moulin Rouge" is much more modest than its namesake in Paris, the quarter itself is more interesting than the same quarter in the French capital. The

Well, how to come to Amsterdam and not to visit the street of the Red Lanterns! Of course, the place is very striking. In the daytime there is nothing special, shops are open, business locals go, cyclists go. And closer to the night, when the city plunges into darkness, the most interesting begins. In this part of the city are tourists from all countries, to see a miracle in the cultural capital. The street of the Red Lanterns is rather a block, not a street, because all the interesting places here are located on several ... Read the whole review
