The largest city of Tanzania Dar es Salaam is located in the east of the country, on the coast of the Indian Ocean. This is the main seaport of the state, its railway station and highway junction, here is the airport of international significance.
Compared to other African cities Dar is not bad - a couple of days will easily go on walks in the colonial streets or in the neighboring beaches. It is easy to get visas to neighboring states, gain strength after climbing Kilimanjaro and purchase everything necessary before traveling to the African wilderness. The city center is built up with two-story houses of traditional Swahili architecture, and you can walk on it - distances and security are quite possible.
