On the north coast of the Dominican Republic, washed by the Atlantic Ocean, there are many surfing camps: it can be surfed all year round, the ocean brings sights (moving masses of water under the influence of wind in low pressure areas) and excellent waves. Of course, pros choose the winter season (October to May), when the waves reach 6 meters - at this time there are often held competitions, while newcomers will be quite comfortable in the summer, with smaller waves. The main places for surfing: Playa Grande, Orchid Bay, Nagua, La Preciosa, Enquentro.

In addition, kiting and windsurfing are common here. However, the north of the Dominican Republic is primarily a resort with its inherent infrastructure: clubs, bars, restaurants. On the other hand, the distinguishing feature of the Dominican Republic is a small number of people on the wave, which means more opportunities for skiing.

Moreover, here there are all types of waves: peak, reef and beach. Most reef spots, however, there are places for beginners with a sandy bottom. In 2002, it was here, in the city of Rio San Juan, the first Russian surf school was founded.
