When driving in Finland by car, prepare for border control:

  • a passport with a validity period of at least three months;
  • Schengen visa issued by the Embassy of Finland in the Russian Federation or its branches;
  • driving license;
  • documents for the car;
  • transport insurance green card (green card), purchased in advance in Russia or, if it expires, on the border (the minimum term of border insurance is one month)
  • a car with the indicated nationality, the correct height of the tread pattern (at least 3 mm in December and February and at least 1, 6 mm in the rest of the time), the lack of an "antiradar" even in the "glove compartment", the absence of tinting the windscreen, glass within the factory.

Gasoline in Finland is much more expensive than Russian gasoline - if you want, fill the tank with gasoline in Russia.

At the customs you can get into a long queue, so in advance plan the route and calculate the time with a margin.

Customs will not miss:

  • Meat and dairy products (excluding the needs of infants and people with disabilities)
  • alcohol if you are planning to enter the country for less than 72 hours;
  • more than 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 250 g of tobacco;
  • drugs;
  • animals and plants in any form;
  • any weapons and ammunition.

Do not violate the laws when crossing the state and customs borders of Russia and Finland, otherwise when you apply for a visa later, you can refuse to issue it to visit not only Finland, but also other EU countries.
