The Old Town of Nessebar

Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria Nikolina Angelkova said that the country's authorities are seriously considering the possibility to start issuing visas at airports on arrival.

According to official statistics in 2014, the number of Russian tourists visiting Bulgaria decreased by about 3%. The tourist industry of the country does not expect positive changes in 2015, as Russia continues the economic crisis. In addition, interest in Bulgaria and among tourists from Britain and Germany is falling.

In connection with the decline in the tourist flow, the Bulgarian government is considering the possibility of an expedited procedure for issuing visas upon arrival. The probability of a positive decision on this issue exists while the country does not join the Schengen area.
