Traces of various cultures can be found on the Croatian peninsula Zadar. The eponymous town with it - the center of the peninsula - resembles a motley mosaic, only composed not of smalt, but of a variety of buildings and structures. Residential buildings built in the 19th century, the ruins of an ancient Roman forum, the Roman cathedral of St. Anastasia, the Church of the Holy Trinity - all this makes up a colorful and diverse picture of the city.
How to get to
The city - by Croatian standards - is large, it has more than 70 thousand people. The color of the city is largely due to the fact that it is located on a narrow long peninsula on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea. There is in Zadar its international airport, from it to get to the city by taxi or bus is not at all a problem. True, the bus station is some distance from the old city, about 20-25 minutes walk.
Zadar is connected by bus not only with the airport, but also with other major cities of the country, as well as with several cities of Herzegovina and Bosnia and some European capitals. With coastal cities, as well as with the islands of the Zadar archipelago, Zadar is connected by ferry lines, the ferry links it to the Italian city of Ancona. Planning an independent car journey to Zadar, it should be remembered that in Croatia there are many toll roads, and the permissible amount of alcohol in the blood of the driver is 0%.
