1. The border of Finland can be crossed by car in three main border points:

  • Vaalimaa - Torfyanovka (recommended for travelers in the direction of Helsinki)
  • Nuyamaa - Cowberry (Saimen) (recommended for travelers to Lahti, Mikkeli, Tampere, Kuopio)
  • Svetogorsk - Imatra (recommended for travelers in the direction of Savonlinna, Joensuu, Kaiaani).

All three points are open around the clock and, as a rule, the passage of the border in the summer period takes a short time. According to statistics, Torfyanovka is more popular among people traveling by car.

2. "Green card" can be purchased both in the relevant insurance agencies, and directly on the road to Finland. In Vyborg, passing through the city towards the border, you will see a large number of signs "Insurance Green Card" - these are Vyborg offices of insurance companies. Points of registration of "green cards" work around the clock. The cost of insurance depends on the duration of the proposed stay in Finland.

3. If you make temporary removal of a boat, a boat engine, a bicycle and other similar property and then the return import of this property will be made to the Russian Federation - the declaration must be filled. At the entrance you may be asked to present checks for purchased and imported goods in order to make sure that its value does not exceed the established norms.
