Taj Mahal is a palace of white marble with luxurious architecture, incredibly rich interior and a picturesque park. This is one of the main and most popular tourist attraction of India, covered with a romantic aureole.
The legend of the Taj Mahal
According to legend, Indian Shah Jahan was captivated by the unusual beauty of a poor girl who traded in the city market and made her his beloved wife .There are, of course, reports that Mumtaz Mahal was a close relative of Shah's mother, but most are inclined to believe in the touching story of the "Indian Cinderella" .Fate gave them seventeen happiest years of marriage, for which they did not part for a day, Jahan was very attentive to his wife and even asked her advice in many respects .But Mumtaz Mahal died during the birth of their fourteenth child, since then the Indian ruler has never been happy .
To perpetuate the memory of his beautiful wife, he ordered to build the same beautiful mausoleum, equal to which the world had not yet seen .Over the palace of precious white marble masters from all over the region worked, the best architects of India and Europe worked, in all, about two tens of thousands of people were employed in construction, and it lasted more than twenty years .As a result, in the vicinity of the city of Agra, on the Jamna river bank, a structure has been erected, which is still admired by millions of tourists from all over the globe .
It should be noted that no earthquake could destroy this splendor - the construction site was chosen so competently.
Park, architecture, interiors
The proximity to the river made it possible to splash around the mausoleum a magnificent park with a unique irrigation canal. The entrance to it is decorated with an unusual gallery with graceful columns. The facade of the mausoleum is a square that seems to pierce the niches of a semicircular shape, thanks to this the massive building looks weightless, and the feeling of "hovering" creates high white domes and minarets.
Especially unusual is the Taj Mahal from the opposite bank of Jamna - sunlight reflecting from the ripples of the always troubled river, draw intricate patterns on snow-white marble walls. The inner walls of the mausoleum are decorated with painted tiles, inlaid with precious stones and pearls.
At one time, even the front doors were made of pure silver, but they, like many other valuables, were stolen. Nevertheless, the Taj Mahal still impresses with its luxury and rich decoration.
The entrance to the mausoleum costs about 750 rupees, it is open every day except on Sundays throughout the daylight hours, shooting on its territory is prohibited.

The spectacle, of course, is amazing. A large area outside and some small inside. Come in the morning to avoid crushing at the entrance. There are always queues, they move rather quickly. At the entrance, you must always take off your shoes and walk inside barefoot. This is not very hygienic, and if you consider that the Hindus are washed once in the five-year plan, you can imagine what there is inside the smell of the feet! It is for hygiene purposes that you grab socks and walk into them. I saw people. Who walked in shoe covers and shoes. Can it ... Read the whole review

In the summer, it's very difficult to go here, even if you are determined to meet the dawn. Because of the heat, I want to not enjoy what I have seen, but rather to escape quickly. It will not save even a bottle of water, which you are given in addition to the ticket. You can walk barefoot, and leave shoes at the entrance. But we took with us, because the Hindus - people are poor, most of them, and judging by how zealously they are trying to earn at least something at the entrance, their shoes you can not see. The floor in the room is cold and dirty, so do not interfere ... Read the whole review

This is an amazing place, very majestic and impressive. In India, there are many similar structures that are not at all in harmony with the mentality of the Hindus, not with the surrounding poverty. Inside, everything is embedded in white marble, the rooms are clean and well maintained, you can walk for hours. The entrance is naturally paid. And if for the local population it is purely symbolic (in my opinion 10 rupees), then for tourists - 750 rupees. The entrance for tourists is also separate. The price includes a visit to the whole complex, and you are given ... Read full review

To go to the Taj Mahal to go is worth it, if only because it is the Miracle of the World, and such miracles can not be met at every step. A wonderful park area, the details of the temple with marble carving are impressive! At the entrance is a lifetime queue, which is very exhausting by itself, and still constantly cling to some sellers and cheaters who offer to hold a queue. The entrance fee is 250 rupees for us and 20 rupees for the Hindus. I never understood how such chic mansions can side by side with themselves ... Read the whole review

I want to share the impression of visiting the Taj Mahal. Well, I will describe his story - it already knows everything. I want to remind you that the Taj Mahal is a mausoleum, although many believe that this palace was built in honor of the wife of Khan Mumtaz. She was the third wife of Shah Jahan, one of the representatives of the Great Moguls. But it's not interesting. The history of its construction is interesting. First about how we got there.
We had transit through Calcutta and Delhi to Moscow. And this transit took 2 days. Do not sit at the same hotel ... Read full review
