They say that inexpensive pearls are sold in Vietnam. How is it grown / produced and how high is it?

Responds Irina Ivanova
Mostly it is sold artificially grown river pearls, less often - cultivated sea (its pea is larger and irregularly shaped). Pearls are mined in Halong and, according to various estimates, the best pearls in Vietnam are grown on the island of Fukuok.

The quality is completely different: there is very good under the brand (you can find it in shops or special farms), but there is also an inexpensive one with flaws (basically, mobile vendors sell or in small markets). Often there are plastic counterfeits with applied paint.

Two proven ways to test pearls:

  • Bring the flame to the pea (plastic melts).
  • Peel the peas on each other (plastic is strewed).
