We want a savage to go to China: first to Hong Kong, and then to move to Guangzhou. What about the invitation and what visa is required? And is it worth the first time to fly unaccompanied by a travel agency?

In your case, you can not obtain a tourist visa yourself at the Chinese consulate. To arrange an individual Chinese visa, you should contact the travel company. Buy the same air or train tickets, and book tickets on the route you can travel by yourself.
